Investing in the Future of Nursing: Celebrating Our 2025 NursingColleges.com Scholarship Recipient

We are thrilled to announce that the winner of this year’s NursingColleges.com Scholarship is Eboni Lee, a dedicated student at Chamberlain University. Born in Pensacola and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Eboni has always been fascinated by healthcare. From an early age, she enjoyed visiting doctors and dentists, intrigued by the tools, the environment, and the science behind it all. That curiosity grew into a passion for biology and health sciences in school, ultimately leading her to pursue nursing as a career.

“I always knew I wanted to do something in the healthcare setting. As a kid, I enjoyed going to dentist and doctor’s appointments—I was fascinated by the tools and the environment. Later in school, science and biology became my favorite subjects. That’s when I knew healthcare was the path for me,” Eboni shared.

Encouraged by her father, who suggested nursing as a career path, Eboni discovered that nursing combined her love of science with her desire to connect with and care for people. She is now pursuing her goal of becoming a nurse practitioner, with aspirations to one day open her own practice.

Her choice to attend Chamberlain University was influenced by colleagues in the healthcare field. “I heard a lot about Chamberlain from co-workers in the hospital. It always stood out to me, so I applied online—and before I knew it, I was in the program. So far, I’ve really enjoyed learning and being part of the Chamberlain community.”

For Eboni, receiving the NursingColleges.com Scholarship is both a personal and professional achievement. “Personally, it lightens the financial burden of working while in school. Nursing school is intense, and this support makes it a little easier to balance everything. Professionally, receiving this award shows me that I do have my foot in the race—it’s an accomplishment I’m proud of.”

Balancing work and studies has not always been easy, but Eboni has found creative ways to stay motivated through the challenges. “I give myself small rewards for meeting goals—like going for coffee if I finish a big reading, or buying something I’ve wanted after passing a midterm. Those little rewards keep me motivated and remind me to celebrate progress along the way.”

Looking ahead, Eboni is eager to put her education to work in family practice while also gaining experience in hospital settings to build her clinical expertise. “In the short term, I’d like to start in family practice and gain more hospital experience to build my skills as a provider. Long term, I hope to practice privately as a nurse practitioner—and one day, be part of a practice that has my name on it.”

Eboni also hopes her story will inspire future nurses to carefully consider the commitment the profession requires. “Do your research, talk to other nurses, and make sure you understand the dedication it takes. Nursing school can be tough, but when it’s truly something you want, the challenges don’t stop you—they push you to work harder. Nursing is rewarding and so necessary, but it requires real commitment.”
